A Journey to the Edge of the World

About a thousand years ago, ancient Berbers brought a special breed of domestic sheep to Spain, marking the beginning of the Spanish Crown's monopoly on wool production that lasted until the 18th century. This is when the first flocks of carefully selected merino sheep left with the Spanish fleet to distant Australia.

The Peppin Merino

The emerald plains and gentle slopes of New South Wales are the home of the noble Pappinbar Merino on the western edge of the land.

THE PERFECTION OF NATURE BY TOGAS

The Peppin Brothers

The Peppin Merino sheep received their name from the surname of the brothers who were breeding sheep in Riverina, Australia at the end of the 19th century. As a direct descendant of the valuable Rambouillet breed, the Peppin Merino is now the main natural supplier of the finest premium sheep wool.

Royal refinement

The fiber diameter of Peppin cashmere is typically less than 24 microns, which is three times finer than human hair. In some cases, ultra-fine and super-fine fibers can be obtained and used in combination with silk and cashmere to achieve unique tactile sensations.

Being the finest and softest sheep wool in the world, Peppin cashmere makes up only 1% of the world's clothing fiber production. It is a true luxury.

Depth of dreams

Sleep better at night when you immerse yourself in the warm embrace of Togas Peppin Merino cashmere.

Recent research conducted by scientists from the University of Sydney has shown that adults wearing woolen sleepwear would fall asleep in just 12 minutes, compared to 22 and 27 minutes for adults in polyester and cotton clothing.

The Tender Power of Warmth

Like all other types of wool, the structure of Merino wool fibers is unique. Although the structure of any wool is similar - many microscopic air pockets retain warm air inside - Merino wool has increased strength due to its special elasticity.

For 200 years now, Australian breeders have been continuing the Peppin brothers’ legacy and working on the selection of Merino wool to obtain increasingly high-quality, thin, strong, and warm wool. At Togas, we take pride in working with the best of them.

Selection for the benefit of life

Merinos have been domesticated and raised in a way that they cannot survive without regular shearing. They need to be sheared at least once a year because their wool does not stop growing. Neglecting regular grooming can cause thermal stress, mobility problems, and even blindness.

Given the mild climate of western Australia and the growth rate of Peppin Merino wool, they are sheared at our partner farms several times a year.

sheeps

The spacious and idyllic western plains and the hills of Australia are home to one of the most generous inhabitants of our planet, the fine-fleeced merino sheep.

Today, we use its wool for our own benefit and for those we love and care for, just as nature cares for us.

Embrace a thousand years of nature's gifts, and experience the natural cashmere fiber that has been concentrated in Togas products.
